What is the most expensive part of buying property abroad? You would probably guess at your legal fees which may amount to £2,000 to £5,000. Although that expense is big, there is a bigger expense that many forget.

When you start out learning Spanish like I did in school by just learning a few basic words and phrases, you will be amazed at how quickly you will pick up and learn the language faster. Before I was born, my parents moved here from Mexico, and although they did know how to speak Spanish, they chose not to do so around the house. And I learned only a few simple phrases growing up. So even though as children we learned to speak English pretty well. Our Spanish was almost non-existent. My friends learned slowly but steadily at home, but I did not.
