Building a feeling of pride and a sense of community has always been problematic for schools, both public and private. Getting parents involved in school functions and after school activities is hard; parents have limited time and resources, other commitments and some just do not want to take part. Building that sense of community is integral to the well being of the entire school community, from the sports team to the various clubs within the school and even the teachers and parents. That sense of community, that sense of being something bigger than yourself or your children is a dynamic part of a school’s success at building a community and sense of belonging within the students, faculty and parents.
