Babies: Baby Massage and its Connection to Sleeping and Thinking

The task of developing a regular and restful sleep pattern for a new
baby is often an exercise in frustration and confusion for many
parents.  Research has shown that hospitalized infants grow more
rapidly when correctly massaged.  This is due in large part to the fact
that massaged babies actually spent more time being quiet and calm, yet
alert, and that when they did sleep, it was deep and very restful.
This resulted in a more structured sleep pattern, as well as longer
sleeping periods at night.

How to Find a Thimble That Fits

A well-fitting thimble will make your hand sewing and basting go much faster and with far less pain. When choosing a thimble, consider the diameter, material it is made from, whether it is open or closed, and the number and size of the indentations.

A thimble seems like such a simple, inexpensive piece of sewing equipment that we rarely give them much thought. Except when we’re cursing at them because they are bulky, slip off our fingers, and get in the way. Take the thimble off in frustration, and soon back on it goes, as your fingers start looking like plucked porcupines.

Shooting Hoops, Lessons For Kids

Tips children and parents can learn from playing basketball.

No matter where we look or what life throws our way, there is always a lesson to be learned, if we just take the time to look for it.

On February 27, 2004 our family was fortunate enough to take a mini-vacation, courtesy of our 13-year-old son.  The week before this big event, our son entered a local “Hoop Shooting? competition and won first place, four tickets to the University game, and a chance to win the regionals.  So Saturday morning we packed our bags, booked a hotel, and headed down to Green Bay, Wisconsin to join many other aspiring basketball shooters for a chance to move forward to the state championships.
