13 Going On 30 Make-over Party
If you have a soon to be teen age girl, it is hard to decide on an appropriate party theme that will be fun and hip without being too young.
A great idea is to host a 13 Going on 30 Make-Over Party. With a few simple supplies you can give your new teenager a party her friends will enjoy and will feel more like a grown up than a little girl.
Create an invitation that looks sophisticated but still young. There are great graphics on scrapbook paper that will work well. With some card stock and a printer, you can have a unique invitation that looks appropriate for a teen age party.
To begin, choose some make up. Be selective in your make up choices since some parents will not want their daughter to leave the house looking too “made up.” Find some great mineral make up selections that will be gentle on young skin. Resist the temptation to buy dollar store make up. The break-outs that will follow will be very disappointing to your guests. Buy small containers of make up to send home as a favor. Try to avoid sharing make up as much as possible or use disposable applicators.
Ask participants to bring semi-formal affair or have a selection of outfits you have collected from friends and family. Try to have some dressy dresses, high heels, and jewelry. Make sure to have on hand some hair products and curling irons or flat irons to finish the look. The bulk of the party will be dressing up and making up their 30 year old look, so have enough items that the girls will not be done in a few minutes.
Create a restaurant in your dining room with a simple four course meal or just order take out. Light some candles and have a fresh vase of flowers. Simple decorations will give the effect of eating out and a fancy restaurant without the high price of going out.
Instead of a regular cake, serve cheese cake or a trifle. Each are more sophisticated that the traditional cake. Or have a cake artist create a spectacular art piece for the party. It can even be used as your center piece.
Watch the movie (it is rated PG-13, please screen before to see if you think it is appropriate) or have a dance party. The most important thing is to have teenage fun!
