The Different Types Of Cremation Urns
There are many different types of cremation urns. To help you select which one is right for your loved one here is a brief review of each.
Bio-Degradable Urns:
These urns are environmentally friendly. Urns are usually constructed of 100% hand made papers and are designed for temporary or ceremonial use. Remains can be scattered or the paper urn floated on water until it dissolves. Other materials can include clay, acorn and seashell.
Solid Marble Urns:
Marble urns are constructed of natural stone from quarries found all over the world. Each urn is cut from selected marble, hand finished and polished. Other natural stone urns include granite, quartz, onyx, slate, alabaster and fossil.
Portrait Urns:
Sheet bronze or solid wood (usually in a natural or cherry finish) urn within an elegant picture fame. A loving way to permanently memorialize your loved one.
Wood Urns:
Beautifully handcrafted usually in solid oak or walnut. They are a good material if you want a customized urn, however hand crafted urns and cabinets can take weeks or months. Wood Urns have a warm feel. They do need protection and maintenance to keep the warm color and retain any detail.
Bronze Urns:
These urns are traditionally solid and sheet bronze with custom engraving. Bronze is very durable and does not rust. They are a good choice if you plan to bury the urn or display it outdoors.
Brass Urns:
Solid brass urns have hues of subtle color or feature a pewter finish. Matching sharing urns are available with almost every brass urn and include a velvet presentation box.
Cultured or Manufactured Urns:
Made from synthetic materials or natural (stone) dust, are easily crafted into almost any form.
Cloisonne:
Cloisonne is the art of applying enamel to the surface of an urn. Created from copper wire designs and hand applied enamels. The urn
Is fired, then polished to create a lasting and bright shining finish. A wooden base is usually included.
